Terms and Conditions

The parent or guardian authorizes the student to take part in the following Driver Education Course. The course will consist of two parts.

The first part is the online written course. The student will be responsible for their username and password. If the student has technical difficulties, they can reach out the support team on the web platform of the course. Do not contact Safer Driver Solutions, unless you cannot reach the course technical support team.

The student will be allowed 90 days to complete the online course. If the course is not completed in 90 days, the student will have to take the course again.

If there is an illness or reason the online course cannot be completed with the 90 days, it is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to contact Andy@SaferDriver.net within 15 days of the end of the online date. The communication must be sent in writing via email. Safer Driver Solutions reserves the right to approve or disapprove the reason to allow a continuance.

This online course in an approved course by the Iowa Dept of Transportation.

The student must be at least 14 years of age by the beginning of class (verification by Iowa Drivers Permit required).

This online course consists of 30 – one-hour lessons of classroom instruction. A class grade of 80% must be obtained through the online assessments.

If a student fails one of the 30 online assessments, they will be required to take the lesson over. They will be allowed 3 attempts to pass each of the 30 online assessments. They may take notes and use their notes on the assessments. Once they have completed an online lesson and passed the assessment, the student, parent and instructor will receive an email confirming the completion of the online lesson and then they can advance to the next lesson.

A student can complete two online lessons per day.

After completing all 30 online lessons and assessments, a certificate of completion will be generated. This does not meet the criteria to receive a pass for the course. The student must pass the second part of the course, the Driving Portion. Each student must pass the Final Driving Assessment. It is Pass/Fail.

Each student will be given a specific amount of driving lessons based on the Behind-the-Wheel (BTW) package they were enrolled in at the time they were signed up. They will receive a minimum of 5 hours of Behind the Wheel (BTW) instruction, 5 hours of Observation in a Vehicle (when applicable due to COVID restrictions) and one Final Drive Assessment. All road tests are based on Department of Transportation performance objectives.

Students that successfully pass the online course and the Final Drive Assessment may be certified at this point. BTW instruction must be completed no later than 30 days after the online course has been completed. BTW instruction will start no earlier than after the first 2 online lessons have been completed.

The total course fee dependent on the package selected at the time of enrollment.  If paying by check, final payment must be received prior to the student receiving a completion certificate to the Iowa DOT. All certificates are submitted online. You will NOT receive a paper copy. The school district does not require proof of certification for the approval of the school permit. The Iowa DOT will make final approval on the issuance of a school permit.

There will be a $50.00 charge assessed if a student fails to show up for a scheduled driving lesson or Final Drive Assessment. A parent must provide notice within 24 hour’s notice by phone, text or email to the Instructor the drive lesson was scheduled with or andy@saferdriver.net. If the notice cannot be given with 24 hours due to a family emergency, please contact andy@saferdriver.net and he will make a final decision and notify the instructor,

Our instructors do their best to return from drives with other students on-time, but sometimes things happen. Please be patient and do not leave unless you have spoken with the instructor and heard of a change. The instructors are not going to wait very long, and they are not going to call looking for you.

Payment plans are available upon request. Guidelines do apply.

The Drivers Education completion certificate will not be released until course has been paid in full.

If the student fails the Final Drive test, the student may pay a $100 fee to re-take the final drive or the parent or guardian may choose to be accept a certificate that states the student must drive for the Iowa DOT to receive their license.  If the latter is selected, we cannot test the student again. The only way we can test the student again is if the student takes the full Driver Education course again.

Safer Driver Solutions will conduct the BTW instruction in a dual controlled automobile, fully insured, covering each student enrolled in the program.
